The Tradition

I wanted to share a tradition that my sweet family started for me a few years ago. At the time, I didn’t realize what a blessing these gifts would be year after year.

Each year they surprise me with a new flower or plant, but the kind they get me is a perennial! It comes back each year. Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy.

Rose bushes are a traditional flower that never loose its beauty. If you can’t decide, go with a rose bush! I promise you can’t go wrong. I have two bushes that were gifts and they bloom and bloom and bloom!

You can simply cut a few for a fresh vase of flowers! Try putting a vase of fresh flowers in any room for an instant makeover!

This is Wisteria and it is just beautiful. It is a climber so be sure to get a garden trellis for it to grow on and it will just thrive!

This beauty is a peony that my mother-in-law planted about 3 years ago. This year it is finally strong! It had not bloomed out as of yesterday, but guess what happened…it bloomed today.

What did I do? I had to put my nose right to it and smell the amazing, sweet aroma! This flower will bless you with a feeling of happy when you leave it!

Your local plant nursery is a great place to visit when searching for perennials. I often feel that they give that special one on one customer service that really sets them apart. I also love nurseries because you can often find some pretty unique breeds.

This is one that we found last year while visiting a nursery that we had never been to. The yellow blooms are so vibrant! This is a Trollius.

Other Gift Ideas That Compliment

Hanging baskets, usually at Mother’s Day time are a huge seller. They are an easy pick up, they look beautiful, but they can sometimes be hard to take care of.

Some require a lot of attention and watering. If you plant the perennial in the ground, you still need to keep it watered well that first year, but then its a little easier the next year once the roots are established. The exciting part is it comes back and don’t dye for good.

I still love to get hanging baskets! I am also a flower lover so don’t mind me. Both perennials and annuals are make amazing gifts.

Garden Flags are another gift I love getting! These can be found at Walmart, Lowes or even the dollar stores for a little added touch.

Devotional– Moms need encouragement for everyday life! A new, bright and cheerful devotional is another great option. Even though I have a lot of devotionals, I still love getting new ones.

Hand Made Cards, these are priceless! Make one for your mom this year and she will probably cry those tears of joy!

A Family Picture developed that was not taken as a formal picture, just a random picture of everyone together having fun. Maybe not in the best outfit, or hair fixed just right, but a special memory photo that was taken throughout the year.
