5 Reasons I love a snow day! How I love a snow day! After 2 years, we finally got a snow yesterday. The excitement and anticipation of it coming is so much fun.

Get your milk, eggs, bread and lots of food! Make 3 trips to the grocery store and make sure you have enough of everything because you are going to be snowed in for weeks, right! That’s what we do! And guess what???? I still forgot some grocery items that we needed. Lol!

Guess what else? We really didn’t need all of the food we bought. But, it was so much fun thinking we did!

Reason 1

The 1st reason I love a snow day is because the snow brings on the slow! Everything slows down. You start getting all the cancellations which is so great! School, sports, activities, all cancelled. Yippee!! Can I say, how happy I was to see all the scheduled events cancelled.

Reason 2- 5 Reasons I Love A Snow Day

The 2nd reason I love a snow day is because we play games as a family and have some quality home time! The sledding, snow fights, building a snowman and just being together in all the beauty of the white fluffy snow is just wonderful.

Mom Tip

If they ask you to sled, remember you could break a bone. Be careful and have fun. Sometimes I don’t participate and play with my kids when they ask me to and I later wished that I had stopped doing what I thought was important at the time, but really it wasn’t. That memory was.

Note, I did sled, but had to put my legs and feet out of the sled because I thought I was going to crash. LOL!

Reason 3- 5 Reasons I Love A Snow Day

The 3rd reason I love a snow day is the food we make and enjoy. Today, my husband put a Boston butt in the crock pot and we were able to enjoy the aroma of the meal cooking all day. The night before, we had hamburgers and hotdogs on the Blackstone and oh my goodness, so good. Dessert, break apart bake, easy cookies and ice cream! I mean who can complain. My daughter asked me to get some ice cream cones and they loved them!

Mom Tip

The crock pot meal idea was just perfect because I really didn’t want to cook during this time. Like a normal cooking week. I just wanted to rest and enjoy so I highly recommend crock pot ideas for these special snow days. Those that your family really love!

Reason 4- 5 Reasons I Love A Snow Day

The 4th reason I love a snow day is the excitement in the air. Everyone seems to be in a better mood and just full of life when you know snow is coming. People are nicer!

Reason 5

The 5th reason I love a snow day is the beauty of it all. Seeing the work of the Lord! I noticed little bird foot prints, deer foot prints and our families foot prints in the snow. They all looked different. Different sizes and all going different directions.

Thoughts – 5 Reasons I Love A Snow Day

It made me think, we all have walked down different roads and we don’t know what each of us have had to go through, but God does. He understands what we are going through and what we need each day to keep going.

Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV says, “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

When we feel like giving up, we can hold tight to the truth of this verse. He has our back! We just have to keep praying and trusting in Him and His promises. His Word is true.

The white snow also makes me think about our salvation in Jesus. He washes us white as snow. Isaiah 1:18 NIV says, “Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”

Jesus just wants us to come just as we are.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you so much for a snow day! Thank you for time with our family to enjoy the beauty of your works and nature. Thank you Jesus for the reminder of what You did for us when you gave your life to save us from our sins. Lord, help anyone reading this post to know that You are only a prayer away. In your precious name, Amen.
