How to Deal With Being Busy All The Time

Are You Busy All The Time?

How to deal with being busy all the time? It’s Monday morning, working from home and my house is a complete train wreck.  It’s also the first day of school for my kids.  Can I cry? I’m a little weird when it comes to starting back school.  I don’t want to see those bookbags at Walmart until summer is over. I love summer with my kids!  Boy how each year flies by a little quicker.

Can I Take A Deep Breath?

This past month has been extremely busy.  We had our family vacation week, mine and my hubby’s anniversary, my son’s birthday, back to school preparation and open houses, the Fair came to town, at work the annual year in review presentation, and sadly 2 of my friends lost loved ones.  Can I take a deep breath?  Can you relate?

Wishing I Had Planned Better- How To Deal With Being Busy All The Time

Do you ever find yourself in a situation that you wish you had planned better for?  My daughter still needed a bookbag for school. So we decided to go yesterday after church.

First, we must go to the Fair to pick up all the items we had entered in the exhibit hall as pick up time was 2-4 and we won’t make it back in time from shopping.  Also, our son had stayed the night with his aunt and after touching base with her, we needed to pick him up before going.

Finally, we were on our way to get a bookbag, school supplies because we didn’t get the list until open house and a new school outfit.  Thankfully, my mother-in-law took my son last week and got his bookbag and school supplies and he had a new outfit for school from his birthday party.

Just so you know, I do not like to be out late on a school night, especially the first day of school, but guess what?  Here we were.  Looking for a bookbag, outfit, and school supplies! Walmart is trashed with little to choose from.  Have you been here?  I really wanted to be home, getting everything settled in, but it wasn’t panning out.

Fair WeekHow To Deal With Being Busy All The Time

I looked back at this past week and there just was no time.  We had taken the kids to the fair almost every night and that was very tiring, but we loved every minute of it!  Seeing friends from years ago and catching up for a minute was so enjoyable.  There is something special about the fair when it comes to town!

I share all of this in hopes that it will help someone who is in the same boat.  My house this morning again as I look around with clothes in the chair piled high, papers from school here and there, birthday gifts on the floor, dirty dishes galore, (I think that rhymed!)  Even still, I am so thankful that my husband and I took the time to make the 1st day special for our kids.

A fair scene with a big ferris wheel.

Coffee Please- How to Deal With Being Busy All The Time

Are we tired, absolutely!  Bring on the coffee!  If you are a busy mom like me, the mess is ok!  The time spent with your family is more important than the mess. Just a few thoughts on how we can navigate through these busy times.

1. Start Your Day With God

Start your day with God.  Read His Word and or a devotional and pray for His help today! I know this may sound crazy, but the days I start with Him, I seem to have more time. It all works out and I get everything done. Isn’t that amazing! He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10, NIV

2. Make A List

Make a list today of what you want to accomplish. What bothers you the most or is needed the most? For example, last night we were down to drying off with beach towels after bath time.  Today, I am washing towels first. Yay!

In making your list, add those important dates to your calendar. Check out this great refrigerator calendar to help organize your day! Each month has a special Bible verse to encourage and remind us of God’s amazing Word!

3. Ask For Help

Ask for help if you can.  I have realized that sometimes we must call in our mom, close friend, neighbor or anyone you can grab, LOL, to help us get back in order. Sometimes just 30 minutes of help from someone to get us motivated and back on track is all we need.

4. Be Thankful

Think about your successes and blessings from God that matter today! I got the kids to school on time, no fussing in the car, the kids got up good for me, everyone arrived to school safely. Sometimes after I drop the kids off for school in the morning I want to shout for joy, because it is a true accomplishment!

5. Give Yourself Some Grace

Give yourself some grace and time to get your house back in order after having a busy week. Ask yourself, “Have you had time to get things in order?”  If the answer is no, tell yourself, it is OK!

6. Repeat Bible Verses, Encouraging Music, Pray

Try repeating Bible verses when you are overwhelmed. Turn on the radio and listen to encouraging music as you try to accomplish your list and pray! Ask others to pray for you and you pray for them. We are all in this together!

Prayer for you- How To Deal With Being Busy All The Time

Dear Lord,

Thank you for each new day that you give us. Lord, as busy, working moms sometimes we get so overwhelmed with life and all that we have to do. Help us to realize what is most important and not worry about all the other things that really doesn’t matter. Thank you for our children and families, for health and strength. Thank you Jesus for what You did for us all, for giving Your life for us! The best gift of all! We love you in Jesus’ name, Amen.
